EverNote for Free

EverNote seems to be a popular tool with the GTD and organization crowd. If you’ve ever been curious to experience the full version, you have about 12 hours left. It is today’s Giveaway of the Day offering!
I’m pretty much a OneNote addict, but I grabbed a copy just to give it a shot. I’ve heard a lot about it but never experienced it.
Now maybe I should go back and re-read those GTD Wannabe EN posts that I’ve tended to skip in the past.
Never heard of it? Here’s the pitch:
EverNote allows you to easily capture any information you like, and find it whenever you want. Create text or handwritten notes, import mobile phone snapshots, clip web pages, and grab content from any application directly into EverNote - so everything is kept in a single place.
Once your data is in EverNote, find it quickly using our advanced search, automatic and custom categories, and intuitive interface.
EverNote innovates by storing content on an endless, virtual roll of paper. You can quickly scroll chronologically through your notes similar to scanning through handwritten notes in a notebook.

I just heard about this on Lifehacker and quickly grabbed it. I am loving it since I’m a fan of OneNote but don’t have the money to go and buy OneNote.
I like the to-do list feature because I’m always writing down to-do lists (on already used paper) and it quickly becomes messy.
Can it run on XP?
how about symbian or Java ?
I need to run this EverNote on my N95 phone.
Alisha - I’m enjoying checking it out too. I own a couple licenses of OneNote, but I see some interesting stuff in EN… need to play with it some more. Pretty slick little app!
steve - definitely runs on XP. Dunno about any mobile versions…
It’s too bad I can’t import notebooks from OneNote into EverNote, though. I had some saved notebooks from when I used a trial of OneNote and it expired before I had a chance to save them elsewhere. Do you know of a way to view OneNote notebooks without OneNote?
Overall, I like EverNote. The only thing I would change is removing the skin on it. It reminds me of one of the old Windows Media Player skins.
I don’t know of any clever ways to import ON notebooks. However…
Can you re-install the trial? perhaps on a Virtual Machine that hasn’t had the trial before? THen you could send to Word or copy/paste stuff to EN.
I’d probably go with the VM route if it were me
That’s a good idea, I actually didn’t think of that. But, for some reason vmware messed up my wifi connection that I have set up as an access point for my laptop so I have access to the Internet and a Remote Desktop Connection. It took me more than a month to figure out what the problem was. An easy solution was to just uninstall vmware.
I’m sure there’s a better way, but I don’t know that much about vmware and didn’t have the time to mess with it. Maybe sometime in the future I’ll try to figure it out.
Thanks for the suggestion!
While I’m not in the market for this sort of software (Journler is my friend), I’m thrilled to find out about giveawayoftheday.com!
