Vista’s Snipper

Tip of the day for the Vista users: Have you found the snipper yet?

Start -> Control Panel -> Programs
Click on “Turn Windows Features on or off”
Scroll down to “Table PC Optional Components” and check it if unchecked.

Now, hit the start menu and type in “snip” to find and run the snipping tool.

You can use Snipping Tool to capture a screen shot, or snip, of any object on your screen, and then annotate, save, or share the image. Simply use a mouse or tablet pen to capture any of the following types of snips:

  • Free-form Snip.  Draw an irregular line, such as a circle or a triangle, around an object.
  • Rectangular Snip.  Draw a precise line by dragging the cursor around an object to form a rectangle.
  • Window Snip.  Select a window, such as a browser window or dialog box, that you want to capture.
  • Full-screen Snip.  Capture the entire screen when you select this type of snip.

Cool, huh?

I was actually wondering how to find that a while back.

I’ve been using Jing for sharing screenshots or video without having to send them. I like that the snipping tool lets you write/highlight on the screenshot, though.

    Hey Alisha :-)

I also like that it’s a nice low-buck alternative to good ol’ SnagIt.

I tried snipper and did not like it as much as FastStone Capture:

    I have Vista Ultimate 64
I have the “Table PC Optional Components” Turn on with a check mark in box
But I can not find “snip or snipping” Any where on my computer
So is it only on Vista 32 ?

      I’m on Vista Ultimate 64 right now… it’s definitely there. :-)

I just hit the windows-key and start typing snipping and it pops up. If yours isn’t, I’m not quite sure what to suggest.

I uninstalled the “Table Pc Settings” and then re-installed them again.
        Now it shows up.
Thanks for letting me know it’s on the Vista 64 or I would have just thought it was for Vista 32
        Thanks

Does any body know how to make a Boot Dos CD or DVD from Vista 64
I need to update my flash Bios chip. PcChips says I have run the setup.exe from a Boot Disk or else it damage the Bios.
The problems is Vista 64 does not have a format with system files for a CD or DVD only if you have A:\ drive device. Which I do not have.
I do have a DOS6.22.iso file which puts Dos files on the CD. But does not make it Boot.
Who has been able to do this?

I guess I should put this in a new post
