Consolas for your Console

The IEBlog has a non-IE related post up touting the wonders of the Consolas font. Even better, it has a simple little reg command that will help you run Consolas in a command window.
I once wrote about my love for the Consolas font many years ago. Unfortunately, that post didn’t make it to this current blog for some reason. Wish I would have realized that before now…
So I’ll cut to the chase: If you spend much time looking at text in a Windows ClearType world, Consolas is definitely worth a look. I can’t live in Visual Studio without it. I also use it with Notepad++ and pretty much any other text editor that’ll allow fonts to be customized.
Now I can enjoy it in my command windows as well (and I shall!)
Optimized for Microsoft ClearType
The Microsoft Consolas Font Family is a set of highly legible fonts designed for ClearType. It is intended for use in programming environments and other circumstances where a monospaced font is specified. This installation package will set the default font for Visual Studio to Consolas.
