OK Twitter, Maybe it WAS Me Too…

Two days ago I gave up on Twitter. Yep, I quit and I quit publicly.
This afternoon I started up again.
Pretty weak, eh? For what it’s worth, I still “stand behind” most of what I wrote. Clearly, I need to manage my own little tensions though…
It seems FriendFeed isn’t quite ready to be an alternative to Twitter. Not that it doesn’t do a great job at aggregating and such, but it’s quickly overwhelming to use for just “tweeting.” And, to be honest, I couldn’t find a desktop client that could make me happy. The ability to hide stuff is huge (and rather necessary (and elegant!)) in FriendFeed and I’m distressed that none of the clients I tried could figure that out.
Creating piles of imaginary friends was getting old too — nor do they always seem to actually work reliably.
So yeah, I’m back on twitter and vowing to no longer care or get worked up when it (inevitably) goes down. Like I said before, who needs the aggravation
Oh, you know what helped convince me? I had popped onto twitter this morning to grab some names as I was making more imaginary friends to follow — I was getting lonely. That’s when I learned there had been some tornadoes a north of the office and we were all in a tornado watch. Hell, I had no clue until I saw that on twitter!

Did you use is.gd instead of tinyurl because the is.gd one lasts forever?
LOL! I’d rather it didn’t… but I use it because whenever I see “is.gd” I hear Jim Carey say “is good”… There, now you know more than you wanted to.
Well, I guess if you can’t find a good reason to keep Twitter around, use it for weather alerts!
Glad you’re back in Twitter!
Don’t feel bad, I’m as frustrated as you are with the whole downtime thing. I hope they get to fix it soon before I lose my temper.
Sorry to hear “Alert Thingy” is buggy for you as I am having good luck with it. It also pulls all my twitter friends updates without making them imaginary. I can’t figure out getting the direct messages though. Of course as I write this Twitter says they had a failure on their databases and will be down for several hours…..
