Updated: I should have mentioned this originally. To get to the Gmail Labs stuff first log into your Google Mail account. Click “Settings” at the top, then click on the “Labs” section to see all of the gadgets with which you might like to experiment.
While some of the Gmail Labs stuff is… goofy… (seriously? Mail Goggles?) every now and then they come up with some great ideas. For instance, how about the most recent addition of Calendar and Docs gadgets?
Talk about something that should’ve been there along — yet I never realized it was missing!
I love being able to see my calendar agenda on the side. That is truly useful.
As noted in the announcement post, this one really shines if you’re also using the Navbar Drag and drop gadget so that these two new items don’t get buried below the fold.
Left side column getting crowded? Might be worth experimenting with Right-side Chat and Right-side labels gadgets too.
I’m torn on these two gadgets. Very nice on my wide screen monitors. Not so wonderful on my old 1024×768 “pseudo-netbook.”
There are quite a few other gadgets to play with. Some are pretty much clinkers, but others definitely can be useful. Any favorites?

Yeah, I agree on Canned Responses. I see much power there… once I get past the urge to send “Let me get back to you on that” in all situations.
