Vista and Windows 2008 Service Pack 2 BETA

As announced at the Vista Team Blog, brave folks and testers can now get their hands on the Service Pack 2 beta for Vista and Windows 2008. While it was announced earlier in the week, the files just recently showed up.

Note: You must have Service Pack 1 already installed. This is not a cumulative roll-up.

There are several install options and I think I’ll take the option that enables Windows Update to serve it up. Seems more exciting than a 320MB iso or exe download.

Check the Notable Changes document to have a look at what you’re about to test. I honestly don’t think my Vista Ultimate machine at home will really see much benefit… but hey, I’m fearless, so I’m going to install it anyways. That’s what snowy Sunday afternoons are for, right?

If I disappear for a few days, you’ll be able to guess what happened :-)

[Later…]

Piece of cake. One reboot, maybe 30 minutes (tops) and I’m running SP2 beta
