Google Adds Tasks to Calendar

Back in December, Google added Tasks functionality to Google Mail. Tasks were a nice touch and easy to use, but a key piece was missing. Fortunately, that was fixed today with the announcement of Tasks for Calendar.

Tasks just got a lot more useful.

Not only can you display and manage your tasks from the Google Calendar, but if you’ve given the task a due date it’ll show up on that date in the calendar – with a checkbox. Yep, you can check them off straight from the calendar view.

Lists in TasksWhile viewing your tasks in the calendar you can drag and drop them to other days to change the due dates on the fly. For me, this nicely complements the ability (from Gmail) to create tasks from email messages. We can manage tasks from all aspects now.

If you’re pondering this as an interesting toolset for a GTD type system, don’t forget that you can organize tasks into multiple lists as well. That seems to be a little known feature that I haven’t seen many folks using.
