Skyfire 1.0 Released

My favorite portable browser, Skyfire, announced their 1.0 version earlier this week. What was already a pretty solid product has gotten even better with this release.

For instance:

Thumbnail interaction. Now you can click on links immediately after the page loads without having to zoom in. This enhancement is especially helpful for high resolution phones, and for familiar sites where you know right away where you want to click. It makes getting to the content you want on the page simpler, quicker and more efficient.

That addresses my number one (minor) annoyance. Oh sure, there are a bunch of other changes, but that one change alone will save tons of taps/clicks.

If you’re a Windows Mobile or Symbian user looking for a better portable browsing experience, you’ll want to give Skyfire a look.

If you missed the .9 release, you might be interested to hear about the social “activity wall” that’s built-in as well. Very cool stuff and a decent mobile client is bundled along for the ride.

If you have a Facebook and Twitter account, you can import your news feeds and Twitter streams into Skyfire and easily publish your status to your friends. You can also share and publish any web page to your Facebook and Twitter streams by simply going to the share menu in the Skyfire browser.
