Vista x64 Install Starts with BSOD

Bill and the BSODInstalling Vista x64 (no service pack)? Have more than 3GB of RAM? Getting a blue screen of death as the installer starts?

I was in that boat earlier tonight. Learned to love the “STOP: 0×0000007E” error. However, pulling out a couple sticks of RAM to get it down to 2GB got the installer working again.

Big thanks to Aaron’s blog which clued me into the idea of pulling some RAM out. I’ll put them back in after I get the service pack(s) installed.
