Yesterday the IEBlog announced the availability of the IE8 Blocker Toolkit. For those who aren’t quite ready to get Internet Explorer 8 on their home machine(s) or on all the machines they manage at work, this is a blessing. I don’t know about you, but I’m not quite ready for this one – haven’t had the My lone windows 2003 domain controller died today. The boot/OS/App drive appears to have decided it didn’t want to live anymore. No warning, just dead. Won’t power up, won’t even make a little whine. Ok fine. I’ve mentioned enough times that 2k3 and Active Directory are rather overkill for the home office. Partner and I did something we’ve been dreading for several years: Migrate a very well entrenched Windows NT4 based domain network to Windows 2x Active Directory. Not only that, but we met the goal of zero disruption as we managed to do Tonight I finally decided I’m comfortable enough with Active Directory that I should wade in and “un-orphan” my poor little web server. He’s been stuck in a busted domain for almost a year when I last reconfigured the home network around AD. Pleasantly, it went smoothly and everything still works. I’m leaning Last month I had some challenges with my home domain server. At the time, I recall thinking that I really should get another machine going to mirror that one.
