Last week I wrote about my battle getting Windows Live Writer Beta 2 to work with the (indispensable) Bad Behavior plugin. I'm pleased to say that I've found a simple little work-around. Seems something new started up last week and as a result the amount of spam comments and trackback spam that folks are receiving is sky-rocketing. In fact we had to sticky a generic post over at the WordPress.org support forums to help minimize the number of forum posts all on the same topic. A few short bits or thoughts to pass along. Man, I know I'm a z-lister at the far right of the long tail, but even the spammers are leaving me alone now! Not even sure what happened, but I used to trap a handful of spam every day. No more now. Another Tool in the Blog Anti-Spam Toolkit
Blog spam is a bummer, isn't it? So much of it is automated and shows up as Trackbacks or Pingbacks. Without using decent tools, a blogger can easily find themself spending way too much time chasing this stuff around. That causes folks to sometimes take extreme measures like forcing commenter registration
