My evening? Installing Xubuntu Linux on (yet another) older ThinkPad while looking over the Microsoft “ramp up” stuff on ASP to ASP.Net. I like to keep in touch with both worlds… From the Server Core blog: [Optional Features:] Subset of .NET Framework 2.0 [...] Now to wait to learn what “subset” will mean. As a reminder, Server “Core” is the flavor Microsoft sure has been busy lately, huh? Continuing on from the announcements earlier this week (Web Platform Installer and the PC Advisor preview) a few more new releases caught my eye today. I haven’t had a chance to try them yet, but figured I should at least share the wealth. Web Application Installer – this one Thursday, one of the developers stopped by to tell me that he needed FrontPage Server extensions added to our dev server. Now, I know he’s been working on some ASP.NET stuff so was forced to ask, “Why in the world do you need those?” Turns out he was attempting to work with a pile of projects as Not much to talk about the geek front. I’ve been pretty consumed by my efforts to get a handle on ASP.NET and Visual Studio 2005 (and, to a lesser extent, Web Developer 2005 Express which is, as mentioned, free). I have Visual Studio on one machine and the Web Developer thingy on another. |
