Last Friday I got to work, booted up my little Eee netbook and quickly realized that it wasn’t on the network. No DropBox. No IM. No Web. I love this little thing, but without a network connection it suddenly becomes a weird paperweight. I toggled the WiFi hotkey and confirmed that it was indeed on. Nothing. I My trusty old PC started another round of hardware issues this week – primarily cooling based this time. The heat-sink fan was getting sluggish and one of the case fans was having a rough time as well. I’ve limped this thing along through a series of cases, motherboards and upgrades for almost 6 years A long holiday weekend followed by two vacation days find me still experimenting with EverQuest II. In fact, I’m starting to feel a bit hooked. Some random thoughts and impressions follow. I’m pleasantly surprised at how much fun I’m having dinking around with harvesting and Trade Skills. I’m only a level 12 trade-skiller, but I can Where would repair folks be without the wonder that is 3-in-One oil? Years ago, my father taught me the trick for repairing or improving most computer fans. Peel off the little adhesive “bearing cover” (aka sticker), use a drop of 3-in-one, allow it some time to penetrate.
