A year ago I wrote up one way to get Google Reader integrated with Netvibes. That method worked well enough, but it was a bit awkward. Two things have happened since then: Netvibes has continued to improve and Google Reader has an iPhone mobile interface (pointed out by TedHead in a comment from February of this A month ago I mentioned that I was using TwitterGadget with iGoogle as my twitter client. In fact, I’ve been using it daily since then. Today I finally noticed a very cool feature: URL Expansion. Hover over any URL that comes from a URL Shortening service (bit.ly, is.gd, etc.) and TwitterGadget will show you the destination. I’ve been experimenting with iGoogle a bit more lately as the default home or landing page for my browsers. I have a handful of interesting gadgets (more on those in a future post) and it generally works well for me. It has also been a refreshing change from Netvibes. There’s one spot that Netvibes definitely Some random bits from the social networking scene that caught my attention recently. My favorite social aggregator, Socialthing, has announced that they’ll be dropping support for their current product. They’re not pulling the plug on it until their next “big thing” launches, but no more updates or patches as APIs change in the future.
