A couple of weeks ago the Facebook folks announced their support for Jabber/XMPP. If you’re a Facebook fan this is a big deal as that announcement opens up FB chat to all of the multi-protocol IM applications. No more having to endure the web-based version. If you’re a Pidgin user, as I am, check out this Over a year and a half ago I announced that I was “digging Digsby” the multi-protocol instant messaging application. What wasn’t to love? It handled most instant messaging networks, Twitter, Facebook (added later) notifications and chat, along with some pretty solid email notification features as well.
