A few days ago I walked into my office, sat down and leaned forward to start typing on my work laptop. As both hands hit the keyboard there was a little static shock and the machine instantly turned off. Shaking my head in annoyance, I unplugged the laptop, pulled the battery and hit the power button A client recently tossed a laptop at me and asked that I try to fix it. The root issue? Her company’s contract IT guy had setup some security “stuff” on it but forgot to tell her what her password might be – and then he disappeared! So, now she had a nice paperweight. Being ever pragmatic, Newegg.com had this deal going on last week: Buy a color laser and get a “free” Asus Eee 4G (701) netbook. Our Marketing manager was kind enough to ask me if that was something that I might be able to use… I assured him that I could probably find a purpose for it! It showed up I’d like to enter the sub-notebook space this fall. I want one of those light-weight and super portable laptops. Sure, I have a great laptop for work, but it is a desktop replacement. Super powerful – and super heavy.
