I watched the NASA TV coverage of the Mars Recon Orbiter’s orbital insertion yesterday while at work. It was so very very cool and even a bit emotional when the orbiter popped out from the other side of Mars and they confirmed it was right where it was supposed to be! So nice

Tons of the “Mars will be awesome viewing this month” emails going around. However, turns out it’s a hoax – some info on that in today’s Astronomy Pic of the Day. Have to admit, I was wondering about it — especially after my daughter noted it sure seemed similar to the email From the Astronomy Picture of the Day site – Water on Mars!! |
