Microsoft has just released beta 2 of Defender (formerly known as Microsoft Antispyware (formerly known as Giant Antispyware)). I’ll have to check later today to see if this got folded in with Windows OneCare at all, or if they’re still seperate offerings.

Have you seen SpywareTesting.org yet? There’s not much there, but some of what is there is rather interesting. For instance, the Partners Page. Did you ever think you’d see some of those all working cooperatively together? (ICSA Labs/Cybertrust, McAfee, Symantec Corp, Trend Micro and Thompson Cyber Security Labs).

The battle against Winfixer/Virtumundo was rejoined today - and handily won. May they rot in heck. Afterwards, gave Panda’s Activescan a shot. Pretty nice, reasonably fast and the price is right. Worth a look if you’re looking for an online scanner of the free flavor (I’m assuming windows only…)
