Updated: See solution at the end Check out this update install history picture: I seem to be in a bit of a rut… I’ve installed “Security Update for Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1” many many times! Oddly enough, I’m not sure why yet. I get notified that I need to install the update: I install the As announced at the Vista Team Blog, brave folks and testers can now get their hands on the Service Pack 2 beta for Vista and Windows 2008. While it was announced earlier in the week, the files just recently showed up. Note: You must have Service Pack 1 already installed. That, in itself, wasn’t all that tough (we’ll ignore the wasted few hours when I mistakenly installed XP Pro [not Tablet] on it…). After the recovery was completed, I ran into an interesting challenge with Microsoft Update though. Fresh Windows Server 2008 install wants you to go online and get updates. Yet I am faced with this error: The “dreaded” Code 80244022. OK, I dunno how dreaded that is, but I hate long numeric code errors. They usually correlate to a high p.i.t.a. factor. If This doesn’t happen very often so when it does I like to help spread the word. Microsoft released a “critical” update today impacting all supported OS’s from Windows 2000 through the Windows 7 pre-beta.
