I gave Crunchbang (#!) Eee version a quick try. Pretty cool distro that ran very nicely on my old Eee. But, ultimately, not what I was after. I’ll be keeping my USB key boot version around though.

Windows 7 Release Candidate: Tried the Wrong Upgrade…

Last week I wrote a bit about my Windows 7 Release Candidate experience with a fresh install. After I wrote that, and giddy with excitement, I decided to try a real upgrade on an existing XP laptop. A functioning laptop that I frequently use, no less.

I was wrestling with an interesting challenge this week. I guess this is my month to wrestle with overheating laptops, eh? (see “The Case of the Overheating Laptop”. XP Install Keyboard Shenanigans

Here’s an odd little tidbit from earlier this evening.

My neighbor stopped by with a computer problem. He had the restore CD for his Dell, but couldn’t seem to get the Dell to want to actually boot from that CD. No matter what he tried or changed in the BIOS, shortly after selecting the CD
