Our youngest son turned 6 yesterday. We had a nice quiet family celebration and his Aunt and Uncle from over in Littleton stopped by after supper. Fairly low key and pleasant.
But not today! Today we had the party: 15 or so kids around the same age descended upon our backyard and wreaked the glorious havoc that only 6 year olds can wreak. They filled the pool and used the slip’n'side right into an early demise (seriously, I think it lasted maybe 90 minutes). They anhilated their cake and ice cream and introduced clever combinations of Kool-ade and carpet (alas!). Probably his best birthday party ever as not one person ended up in tears at any point.
That’s a win. 
Tomorrow my folks arrive (with our oldest who spent the last week with them). The birthday will have to continue at least one more day as I’m sure Nana and Grandpa have a gift and they have this twisted need to treat birthday kids to Chuck E Cheeses for supper.
