I joined a gym a couple weeks ago. Actually, the entire family did, but of us all I’m definitely the one who has the most to gain from it. :-p Daughter has some interest too though as she wants to get/stay conditioned for high school soccer. I’ve been going pretty much every other day, usually for 45 – 60 minutes Mostly doing cardio on the bikes and/or elliptical thingies, but last week decided I’d add in some light weight-training too. Get my money’s worth or something.
Lower body stuff has gone well. I get a bit sore, but nothing too major. Upper body though? Not so great. I got a little carried away Friday afternoon and I’ve been sore ever since. When I went this morning I stuck to cardio and lower body and even so, I just made it worse. I apparently use my arms more than I thought when doing the elliptical machine… Right now it hurts to lift the water glass up for a drink. How lame is that?!? Man…
I don’t “do” reviews, but I wanted to mention these next two in passing.
Wife and I finally got a chance to go watch “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” this afternoon. We figured the world wouldn’t end if I took a few hours off this weekend to not work. I enjoyed it — wasn’t quite what I was expecting, but it kept my inner ADD child very entertained. Definitely got our money’s worth as this is a long one, but there really aren’t any dull spots to slog through.
Read “Orbit: A Novel” by John J. Nance last week. Incredible book. Not nearly as much science fiction as I was expecting, but that’s ok as I was sucked in all the same. Great story and very entertaining. Check out some of the reviews at the amazon link (no, that’s not an affiliate link) and see what you think. It was an impulse grab at the library — and I’m glad I had a chance to read it.
