We got the boat out again yesterday. 6th time this year and each time we’ve had fun. We found that just running up the highway to Cherry Creek State Park is a nice way to go to use up a few hours on the water. Just 20 minutes away which is awfully convenient for a weeknight run. And the boat ramps there are (I know this sounds weird) divine.
First two times we had my folks along as they were camping at that same state park. Then we made a run with one of the daughter’s friends. Then a run with one of the son’s friends. Between those two runs we finished off/used up the old ski tube. Next we made a trip up with one of the wife’s good friends (and neighbor) and her kids. That one we finally figured out how easy it is to bring the boat in close to shore for more swimming and picnic suppers. Oh yeah, now we’re on to something.
So yesterday we had one of the daughter’s friends and one of our oldest son’s friends along. We had hoped to go on Monday, but I was just too swamped with work. Just couldn’t make it work… but, in hindsight, that worked out well because it freed me up a bit yesterday afternoon and the Labor Day holiday crowds were gone. We almost had the lake to ourselves. It was great. We boated for a bit, then beached in a nice private cove. The kids swam and messed around for an hour or so, then we made another lap or two around the lake and headed out. Nice, fun, and oh so very very relaxing.
Here’s the good wife and I looking like a couple of posers:
