Around 1pm Monday afternoon, my day changed from “good” to “Oh my gawd, take me now Lord!” with just one voice mail message.
The call was from the local radio station, 850 KOA (AM) and they just wanted to let me know that my entry in their web contest had won a pair of tickets to that night’s Green Bay vs. Bronco’s Monday Night Football game!
I’m a life long Packers fan (yes, even through the 80s…) and I had spent a lot of time trying to scrape up tickets for this game, but with no luck. Oh sure, I could’ve spent a lot via the scalpers, but that just wasn’t practical.
A co-worker suggested I enter the drawing so, as a last ditch effort, I took her advice and signed up. I’m in her debt and she knows it.
The seats were way up in the top deck (section 510, row 12), but on the 30 yard line. The way Invesco Field is constructed, the seats actually were quite good. Here’s a view from our seats looking towards the 50:
(the picture is a bit blurry – my hands were still shaking when I took this one). Yes, that’s a cheese hat in front of us. There were a lot of other Packer fans there.
Green Bay won it in overtime — In fact, it was the first play in OT. Glorious! Their first win in Denver, and I was there to see it. Probably Favre’s last trip to Denver as well.
Man, that was awesome.
