Happened to stumble over a new & different use of Twitter this past week. It seems that a bunch of folks have taken on character names and personalities of Stephen King’s “The Stand ” and are re-enacting it – via Twitter!
How’s that for a novel use of social media (hey, how’s that for a great pun?)
Here are the characters I’ve located so far:
- Mother Abigail – http://twitter.com/motherabigail
- Randall Flag – http://twitter.com/VegasWalkinDude
- Nick Andros – http://twitter.com/Nick_Andros
- Tom Cullen – http://twitter.com/m_o_o_n
- Glen Bateman – http://twitter.com/glenbateman
- Nadine Cross – http://twitter.com/Nadine_Cross
- Larry Underwood – http://twitter.com/larry_underwood
- Fran Goldsmith – http://twitter.com/frangoldsmith and/or http://twitter.com/fran_goldsmith
- Stu Redman – http://twitter.com/Stu_Redman
- Harold Lauder – http://twitter.com/haroldlauder
- Ralph Brentner – http://twitter.com/RalphBrentner
- Sue Stern – http://twitter.com/Sue_Stern
- Dayna Jurgens – http://twitter.com/DaynaJurgens
- Lloyd Henreid – http://twitter.com/RatSnacker
- Donald “Trashcan Man” Elbert – http://twitter.com/mylifeforyou
- Judge Farris – http://twitter.com/JudgeFarris
Got more? Add a comment with them please.
I may have to create a separate Twitter account just to follow this. Adding them all to my regular account is a bit noisy… but I’m sure curious to see it all play out.
The Stand has always been one of my all time favorite books and this is definitely a new way to experience it!

I was searching the net for info on this twitternovel and found your post from May. Just thought I’d share that they’re still at it.
They’ve formed up into their groups from the book and are making their way to Boulder and Vegas. I noticed some characters with out of date accounts up there, so I included them below if you’re interested.

If you follow http://twitter.com/_kojak_/, he’s following all of them.
Thanks for posting!
