So last night was family night. We all saddled up and rode down to Baskin Robbins for a treat and then wandered home via some local neighborhood trails. Not a big ride, but a bit over 3 miles and some quality family time.
Tonight I decided to go for a bit bigger ride after supper. Had a nice breeze going out of the south so I jumped onto the trails heading south into the wind for the first leg. Have to confess I was struggling a bit with the breeze, but decided to make a push for Franktown figuring once I got there I’d have a glorious 15 miles with the wind as part of my return route.
Wouldn’t you know it? The wind died just as I got to Franktown. *mutter* *mutter*. Even so, the next leg towards home was a lot easier with no wind so I can’t complain much. That particular route is one of my favorites with a nice blend of scenery and trails – even covers a bit of dirt / gravel.
Total miles? 27.5’ish. My avg. speed was 16.2. I wanted more speed but I’m still a bit “burned” from last weekend’s ride and that little breeze tonight pretty much shut me down. That first leg with the wind was barely 15mph. I hauled butt for a while coming back though.
Over 700 for the season now.
